My Faith Journey as a Female, African American Sports Agent Starting an Agency

Capture Sports Agency is the sports agency I just recently started in Fort Wayne, IN, from the ground up. The agency represents men and women basketball players who are interested in playing overseas. Most people in the sports agent world are for the money but I’m in it for the people. God said to be a light to others and help them come to know who He is. With my agency and what I stand for, I want to be a light to the people I come in contact with whether it’s my clients, employees, or short-term or long-term relationships in the business. I want them to see the goodness of God and the way He is moving in my life. I want to help the people of today know who He is and give Him a chance. I also want to help the youth know they don’t have to conform to this world and be like everyone else. “Be grateful with the life God has given you and make the best of it,” I want to tell them. He gave us these lives for us personally so that we can be who He called us to be. I want to help people spiritually, mentally, and physically, while keeping God as the center.

Being in this industry is hard and very competitive, but God gave me this purpose and this vision for a reason. I can’t doubt it. Matthew 19:26 says, “With God all things are possible.” I know as long as I keep God as my center and don’t take my own route on things, He will keep me in the right direction and make all the dreams He’s given me come true. A lot of people are doubting me because I am a female and I’m African American. The odds are already against me, but I won’t let that stop me from pushing forward and pursuing the purpose God has given me. Someone really close to me told me that you’re going to run into situations that are hard. Someone is going to fire you at some point for nothing, but it will be by the grace of God you get past it and become stronger than you were before. I carry that with me every day. I know I was made and built by God for this war.

My relationship with God has grown tremendously since I started going to Indiana Tech in 2011. I’ve grown to know Him and it is truly a blessing to know Him. He’s helped me get through so much. When I say, “Won’t He do it,” I mean just that. Its several prayers that I’ve prayed that have been answered. He’s an on time God. He’s helped me be less doubtful and quick to anger as well as more patient, faithful, understanding, wise, forgiving, grateful, etc. I could go on and on. He’s strengthening me where I am weak and allowing me to become better each day. For that I am thankful. Growing up I was in and out of church doing that teenage thing of thinking I didn’t need to go to church to have fun. Now I’m always in church lifting up God’s name and giving Him glory. I started playing basketball when I was three. I started with basketball and played all the way up ‘til I graduated high school. Track and Field was my second sport that I started my freshmen year of high school and played until my senior year of college.

My love for God, people and sports is what has led me to where I am today with my faith and starting Capture Sports Agency. No matter what happens, I’m excited to be God’s vessel on this earth to make Him known and do what He calls me to do.
